Series 825

Electronic flame monitoring of a propane / butane flame. The monitoring takes place via the ignition electrode or spark plug, which must be placed in the flame. A solenoid valve is controlled and kept in the open state by feedback of the flame to the flame monitoring system. In case of malfunction a single re-ignition takes place.

When the electronic flame monitoring system (EFLÜ) is switched on, the ignition voltage (16kV) is conducted to the electrode via the ignition cable. (Distance of the ignition electrode to ground max. 2mm) simultaneously the solenoid valve is opened. The ignition arc ignites the gas. An alternating current signal is conducted to ground via the gas flame. This signal is rectified by the ionized gas flame. The rectification is measured by the electronic circuit. If the measurement is positive, the solenoid valve is held in the open position (yellow LED illuminated). If the measurement is negative (no flame, or the electrode is at ground), the solenoid valve is closed (red LED and external light are on). If the flame was ignited and goes out due to external circumstances (e.g. wind), a one-time re-ignition of approx. 5sec. takes place. The flame monitoring must then be switched off and reactivated.

The wiring diagram is located on each flame monitor. The plug-in connections are marked with numbers, which must be connected according to this circuit diagram.
1 = External display for error messages.
2 = Connection to the solenoid valve. (The solenoid valve must be de-energized).
3 = Current input 12 DC (10-15 V ) or 24 DC ( 20-30 V ). Connect a 5 Amp fuse upstream of the flame monitor.
4 = Connection to ground. A good connection to ground is important for the function of the flame monitor. The ground connection of the flame monitor must be connected to the burner.

If a burner is equipped with pilot and main burner, an extended monitoring for 2 solenoid valve connections is required. (article no. 8250.2)

If the monitored flame goes out, the red LED and the external light come on.
