Thermocouples

Series 821/2

The thermocouple consists of two electrical conductors connected at the tip. The inner conductor is made of constantan and lies in the thermoelectric voltage series at - 3.25 mV/100°C. The outer conductor is made of chromium-nickel and lies at + 2.25 V/100°C. The outer conductor is made of chromium-nickel and is at + 2.25 V/100°C. Thus the potential difference U / 100°C = 5.5 mV / 100°C. The two conductors are insulated from each other.
If the heating is correct, a voltage of approx. 30 to 35 mV is produced.
If the thermostat circuit is closed via the magnet insert (inside the thermoelectric flame monitor), a current of approx. 0.8 to 1.2 amperes flows.

1. Function
1.1 Thermocouple
The thermocouple consists of two electrical conductors connected at the tip. The inner conductor is made of constantan and lies in the thermoelectric voltage series at - 3.25 mV / 100°C. The outer conductor is made of chromium-nickel and lies at + 2.25 mV / 100°C. Thus the potential difference U / 100°C = 5.5 mV / 100°C. The two conductors are insulated from each other. With correct heating, a voltage of approx. 30 to 35 mV is produced.
1.2 Thermoelectric flame monitoring TFM
1. thermocouple
2. magnet insert
3. housing
4. push button with closing spring
The thermocurrent generated in the thermocouple excites a magnetic field in the soft iron core of the magnet insert. The U-magnet of the magnet insert holds the applied armature plate after pressing in the pushbutton, so that the sealing disc remains open as long as a thermocurrent flows.

The magnet insert and the thermocouple each form a replaceable unit.

6. recoil spring
7. contact piece
2. Installation
2.1 Mount the thermocouple so that the smallest diameter of the tip is placed in the flame. (This area must not come into contact with metal parts, otherwise heat will still be supplied after the flame has gone out).
2.2 Install the thermoelectric flame monitor. Observe gas inlet (direction of arrow, M14x1.5S thread).
2.3 Connect thermocouple and flame monitoring.
2.4 Attention !
Install flame monitoring only in connection with a shut-off valve.
3. Commissioning
3.1. Push in the push button
(The gas path is released )
3.2 Ignite gas.
3.3 Press and hold the pushbutton for approx. 20 to 30 sec (thermostat current is generated).
The gas path is open.
